10 Holiday DIY Keepsakes To Make With Kids

The holiday season is a special time filled with joy, laughter, and cherished moments with loved ones. One delightful way to create lasting memories is by engaging in do-it-yourself (DIY) projects with your children. Crafting holiday keepsakes together not only fosters creativity but also provides an opportunity to bond and build traditions that will be treasured for years to come.

Holiday DIY Keepsakes To Make With Kids

Our team of parents here at Dr. Noze Best know the cherished memories that having special moments with your children can bring, and the holiday's are extra special! Here are some heartwarming and easy-to-make DIY keepsakes to share with your kids during the holiday season.

Handprint Ornaments

Making basic Salt Dough Ornaments on a yearly basis is a great way to capture those little handprints and watch them as they grow each year. It's fun for even the tiniest of hands because they feel like they are playing with play dough and they make wonderful gifts for family members!

Fingerprint Reindeer Gift Bags

We all know that moms dislike the idea of buying gift bags and try to recycle them as much as possible. Well, this is way to create some holiday memories while creating works of art on your gift bags. You never know - these might make their way back to you one day!

Simply purchase plain brown or white gift bags and have your kids paint their hands and turn their handprint into a reindeer face. Add some googly eyes and a red pom pom nose and you have the perfect keepsake to gift this holiday season!

Hot Chocolate Gift Mugs

The holidays and hot chocolate go hand and hand!  If you're searching for a simple gift to give to teachers, bus drivers, dance teachers, and more, hot chocolate mugs are a great one! Start with a nice big mug that speak to their personality and fill it with a hot chocolate packet and pre-package some treats (marshmallows, crushed up candy canes, chocllate chips, etc).

Pine Cone Christmas Trees

Pine cone Christmas trees are an extra great bonding activity because you can start with a nature walk outside to gather the pine cones that you need for crafting. Once you have what you need, bring them indoors and paint them green and glue on fun additions like beads and pom poms to decorate. If you have a larger pine cone, use them to decorate a shelf around the home, and if you have a small pine cone, add some ribbon at the top and hang it on your real Christmas tree!

Grinch Slime

Not that this one really can be considered a keepsake, but we wanted to add it to the list because Grinch Slime can keep your little loves buys for hours! We just recommend setting them up for success in an area that you don't mind getting a litlte gooey or is easy to clean.

Pasta Christmas Art

This one is a fun sensory activity for kiddos, too! Purchase some pasta (rotini is especially fun!), sturdy paper, glue, and glitter or paint (optional!). Let your little one's imaginations run wild as they craft the pasta into shapes like snow flakes and trees, and then glue them to their paper. Once dry, they can add paint or glitter!

Reindeer Food

This is one of our absolute favorite DIY to do with little ones because it's so easy to do and really embodies the magic of Christmas. You only need two simple ingredients: rolled oats and glitter. Mix them together until the reindeer food looks the way you like and then bag it up for your children to sprinkle around your yard on Christmas Eve to lead Satan and his sleigh to your house.

Peppermint Candles

This DIY project is a fun one for kids as they get a little bit older and can help you operate a hot glue gun. Purchase large candles at the dollar stores in various colors and a few bag of peppermint candies. Simply start at the base and glue the candies (unwrapped) all around the candle and work your way towards the wick. These are great to display around your home or give as gifts!

Hot Chocolate Spoons

You can have a DIY holiday list without a little melted chocolate involved! Hot Chocolate Spoons are a delicious way to share a cozy treat with loved ones!

Holiday Wreath

For days during the holiday season when you're feeling extra crafty, head to your local craft store and let your imagination run wild. Start with a basic green swag wreath or try a base that is made from bent sticks and choose things from around the store such as ribbon, glitter, holly berries, and more to decorate your masterpiece. The kids will have a blast creating and hanging somewhere around your home to show off their hard work.
